Bruce has been with the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office for over 28 years. He has performed duties in all areas of the Sheriff's Office including jail, patrol search and rescue, and all areas of investigations. For the past 20 years, Bruce has been in charge of the Juvenile Division of the PCSO, which includes supervision all juvenile delinquency cases, overseeing juvenile detention commitments, and investigating all child abuse cases. Bruce is an expert witness in court on child abuse cases, and teaches child abuse, juvenile delinquency, and investigation of sexual assault cases at the regional POST academy in Glenwood Springs.
Bruce graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and majored in Sociology. He also studied extensively in the Communication Department and the Graduate School of Public Affairs at CU
Bruce has given presentations at three prior CAACO conferences on the topics of Child Abuse Recognition for the Animal Control Officer, courtroom testimony and the link between child abuse and animal cruelty.
